It’s safe to say Jamie Maclaren is an A League legend. So we’re taking you through the boots @maccajay has worn throughout his stellar career from his junior days to time at Blackburn Rovers, Perth Glory, Brisbane Roar, Melbourne City, Mohun Bagan and the Socceroos. Throughout his senior career Maclaren has always preferred lightweight speed focused football boots. He’s mostly worn models from the Nike Mercurial and Puma EvoSpeed lines.
Maclaren began his senior journey wearing a mix of Nike boots. These included the T90 Laser, Tiempo Legend IV, Hypervenom Phantom 1 and Mercurial Vapor 10.
In the 2014-15 season Maclaren made the switch to Puma. He found comfort in the EvoSpeed range and mostly wore the EvoSpeed 1.4, EvoSpeed 1.5 and EvoSpeed 17 SL.
After a short trial in the Phantom Venom in 2019 Maclaren returned to his trusted Mercurial series. He wore various Mercurial Vapor models across five straight seasons. This run included his record breaking years with Melbourne City.
Now playing for Mohun Bagan in the Indian Super League Maclaren has gone back to Puma. He’s currently wearing the new Puma Ultra Ultimate which carries on the EvoSpeed legacy. In a nostalgic touch he even brought out the old EvoSpeed 1.4s in 2025.
Back in 2023, we were fortunate to supply Melbourne City’s centre-forward, Jamie Maclaren, with a pair of one of his favourite boots; the Nike Mercurial Vapor 12 SG-PRO.
Now plying his trade at Mohun Bagan Super Giant, Maclaren made an immediate impact in India, helping the club win the Indian Super League title in his debut season, finishing with 11 goals and 2 assists.
Still only 31, Maclaren remains as sharp as ever and clearly has plenty of football ahead of him. We’d love to see him return to the A-League in the coming years and continue building on his all-time goal-scoring record.
